The 1955 501® Jeans have a quintessential 1950s shape, with more “anti-fit” in
the seat, a slightly fuller cut around the leg, and a boxier silhouette. Representative
of classic 1950s biker style, they’re a similar shape to those worn by Marlon
Brando in The Wild One.

The 1955 501® Jean was the first to bear the leather-like, Paper Two Horse label.
The signature Levi’s® red Tab also changed to say “LEVI’S®” on both sides. Like its
predecessor from 1947, the 1955 501® Jean also had a big “E” red Tab, belt loops
as the only method of waist adjustment, hidden copper rivets on the back pockets,
and zinc buttons on the fly.
