Sunray Sportswear worked with Mr Yanamoto who they & we believe deserves to be showcased.  Frokey is the original way to print a flocked print, with Yanamoto san still printing using this traditional process.  Sunray Sportswear thinks he is now 1 of only 2 printers left in Japan that uses this method. Firstly, he hand screen prints glue onto the garment. Secondly, he then places coloured dust into a pan, which he electrostatically charges, to then spray the dust through a fine filter onto the glue. The garment is then quickly dried and any excess dust is quickly blown off. The result is a time consuming print but one that offers a wonderfully flocked print.

The Haleiwa t-shirt by Sunray Sportswear are knitted on vintage circular knitting machines, which they used for quality over quantity. The knitting process means your garments have no side seam, cannot twist and therefore cannot go out of shape.

Sunray are lucky their near 100 year old producer had the pattern to satisfy the obsession. It is produced using their Japanese Ochiwata recycled cotton. It is a fully recycled cotton jersey. When cotton is first brushed, very small fluffy fibres are discarded, where their yarn producer then sweeps them up and skillfully knits them into their jersey. The Sunray Ochiwata recycled jersey has a soft and downy hand feel, drapes beautifully, and is extremely durable.
