Japanese-milled selvedge salt and pepper chambray\u003c\/strong\u003e, historically known as\u003cspan\u003e \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cstrong\u003ecovert cloth\u003c\/strong\u003e. Made with twisted yarns, the fabric has a distinctive mottled appearance created by the interplay of light and dark threads.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eOriginally prized as a practical work fabric, covert cloth could conceal dirt and wear better than plain-colored fabrics. Its character becomes even more apparent with wear, as the contrasting yarns shift in appearance depending on the light.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eToday, only a handful of Japanese mills still produce true selvedge salt and pepper fabric, making this kind of chambray increasingly difficult to find.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eThis is the final Sage Atlas made with this 6.5 oz. For workers spending long days outdoors, it helped keep wind and dust from finding their way inside the shirt. We kept it because some good ideas deserve another century.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe cuffs are based on Big Yank’s ingenious\u003cspan\u003e \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cstrong\u003e1937 “Elbow Action” patent\u003c\/strong\u003e, using a one-piece fold-over construction designed to give the wearer greater freedom of movement. Whether swinging a hammer, working machinery, or stacking lumber, the construction reduces binding around the elbow.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIt is practical engineering disguised as simplicity.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe Atlas also features\u003cspan\u003e \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cstrong\u003echainstitching along the major seams, a high and narrow back yoke, authentic 1930s pocket shapes, selvedge gussets, a selvedge placket, and sturdy urea cat’s eye buttons\u003c\/strong\u003e.
